Amy Bawcom, Executive Director the ACC Foundation, was our speaker. Amy is a fellow Rotarian (San Marcos Rotary Club) and has been involved in many District activities. She started her position at ACC in April. “ACC is for everyone!”is one of their mottos. ACC has a wide-variety of programs including continuing education, adult education and three bachelor degrees along with associate degrees. There are 11 campuses and 70,000 plus students annual enrollment. They have a 6 County Service Area, 6000 dual credit students, 100 programs of study, and 10 areas of study. Another motto is “Start Here. Get There!” Amy showed us a list of honors for ACC. She also talked about effects of COVID on ACC - when they went on-line, they needed to make sure that students had hardware and software to continue studies. They set up 4 ways to learn - flexible online classes, scheduled online classes, in person classes, hybrid classes. Amy discussed their Partnership in Education -- K-12; UT-PACE Program, Texas State Pathway, TAMU Engineering; Partnerships in Industry - Toyota, Honda, Tesla; and Community Engagement - try to engage with many organizations and non-profits in the community. She also discussed their Bioscience and Fashion incubators and the economic impacts ACC has on the Austin area. Discussed There is a College-wide Campus Master Plan. ACC Foundation is 501(c)(3) founded in 1991, with a 26 member board and a $14 million endowment. The Foundation supports ACC and raise funds for students, including for scholarships. $1.5 million in scholarships given last year. $12 million in scholarships since inception. Amy described the fundraising that they do and talked about how Rotary or businesses can get involved - Charter a scholarship or be part of fundraising events. Discussed types of gifts. Way to make a difference in students’ lives. Getting involved - donate time, talent and/or treasure!
