Last week, Past-President Tink Hill told has another interesting story from his life. It was about his first flight on a plane, which occurred when he was 11. He and his family were traveling to a military base in France where his father was being stationed. They first traveled from Austin by bus to San Antonio then train to NYC. Tink told us details about the trip, including traveling on the train through Philadelphia to NY. While in NY, they stayed for several days at a military post. The best part of the post was the playground, which Tink enjoyed with other military children. They were originally going to go to France by ship but ended up going by plane instead, which was the beginning of Tink's fascination with flying. In the midst of his story about his first flight, Tink told another about flying while part of the Marines. He told us about one of their bombing runs int Vietnam, and how the second plane flew with them did not make it back to the carrier. As always, Tink’s story was fascinating and informative!
