NEWS FROM 13 MARCH MEETING:
- NxNE Rotary is sad to announce the recent death of Molly Chesney, wife of member Lee Chesney. Club members signed a sympathy card for Lee.
- There were 5 Pies auctioned off in honor of National Pi Day for a total of $356.00 for Polio Plus.
- New Member inducted! Lauren Tuma, known to us all for her enthusiastic participation in our Rise Against Hunger project, was inducted by Frank Ivy, and welcomed by all with a standing ovation. Her classification is Commercial Sales-Wholesale.

Program Notes:
Today’s program focused a spotlight on NxNE’s support of the Meals on Wheels and More program. George Linial set the stage with background statistics that defined the levels of hunger, health problems, need for health care, and loneliness of senior citizens—all of which exceed the averages for younger populations. Denis Cowhig shared pictures that defined the process of the Austin Meals on Wheels program: where food is prepared, where meals are
picked up, and the organization of routes for meal delivery to specific persons. He and Beth Siever provided examples of the delight they know in the friendships developed with their clients. Lee Chesney, our fourth driver, was unable to participate because of the death of his wife. Routes are short, timed so that drivers can pick up meals and complete their deliveries within the usual business allowed one-hour lunchtime. Would it be possible for NxNE Rotary to find 2-4 more drivers to complete another route?
