Elizabeth McGrath - U.S. Navy

Our speaker on June 6 was Elizabeth McGrath, Shirley and Ernie Dean's daughter, who works for the U.S. Navy. She works on the Fleet Introduction Team that helps the Chief of Naval Personnel understand things from the personnel perspective. There is vast spectrum of personnel situations in the Navy, and team works with fleet commanders and policy people on human resources systems. The team's latest project is a "My Navy Portal", which is a single human resources portal to consolidate and access Navy personnel data. It will be accessible from land and sea for all personnel. This is great improvement over the current multiple systems for different personnel issues. She showed us one example of how the portal works for a particular life event - retirement. The portal is being tested currently with its first release to happen in July 2016.
