Past President Tink Hill gave a us presentation regarding the "Banana Wars."  For a period of 36 years ((1898 - 1934), the United States Marines conducted police actions, interventions, occupations, deposed governments and subjugated populations  in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean to support the interests of “El Pulpo” (The Octopus), an American business cartel with unlimited finances and an international reach, which trafficked an extremely lucrative product … bananas.  This cartel is known today as Chiquita Bananas.
