Amy Maxwell Chase and her cousin Mark Boyt, both members of the family that owns the Bolivar Point Lighthouse.

Amy Maxwell Chase, Executive Director of the Bolivar Point Lighthouse Foundation, spoke to us about the history and restoration of this well-known lighthouse.  The current Bolivar Point Lighthouse was built in 1872 and has survived several hurricanes. It was decommissioned in 1933 and purchased by E. V. Boyt in 1947. The Bolivar Point Lighthouse Foundation was established in 2015 and is working to restore the lighthouse to its former glory.  The Boliver Point Lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse in Texas and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and has a Texas Historical Commission Historical Marker. Amy told us much more about the history of the lighthouse and the Foundation's efforts to restore it. She and her cousin Mark Boyt also answered numerous questions from the audience.
